NoteClearly

Record a voice note

Record in your browser, choose tags and options before you start, and what happens after you stop.

Start and stop

  1. Open Record in the sidebar.
  2. Tap the microphone, or press Space. The first time, allow your browser to use the microphone.
  3. Say what’s on your mind. The time and a level meter show that it is listening.
  4. Tap again to stop.

The note appears under Recent notes right away, marked Queued and then Transcribing, and its text fills in once it is transcribed - usually within seconds for a short recording. You don’t need to wait on the page; you can get a notification when it’s done (see Notifications).

Before you record

Under the microphone you can set, for this recording only:

  • Tag this note - tags to add to the note. See Tags.
  • Language spoken - the language you are about to speak, or Detect automatically. Picking it is more accurate, above all for short recordings. See Transcription language and glossary.
  • Polish with AI - turn the transcript into a tidy note, in a style you choose. See Polish a note with AI.

The gear (Recording defaults) opens the AI & automation page, where you set what new recordings get by default.

Your recording is saved as you speak

While you record, NoteClearly sends the audio in pieces every few seconds and also keeps it in your browser - you’ll see Saved up to and the time. If your connection drops, the page reloads or the browser crashes, what you recorded is not lost: it’s offered on the Record page to upload. See Recover a recording that wasn’t uploaded.

Keep the screen open

Keep NoteClearly on screen until you stop. On a phone above all, switching to another app, a call, or the screen locking can take the microphone away and stop the recording. Whatever was recorded until then is kept and becomes a note.

How long can a recording be?

Your plan sets the longest single recording - 10 minutes on Free, up to 2 hours on the larger plans. The recorder counts down the last 15 seconds and stops on its own at the limit. Transcribed minutes also count toward your organization’s monthly allowance. See Recording length and monthly minutes.

Add to a note later

Thought of something else? Open the note and click Record more to add a new recording to the end of it. See Record more for an existing note.
