NoteClearly

API tokens and the REST API

Create tokens to use NoteClearly from your own code or scripts, choose what they may do, and revoke them.

An API token lets a program act as you in NoteClearly - your own scripts, an automation, or an AI assistant.

Create a token

  1. Open Settings → API Tokens.
  2. Click Create token.
  3. Name it after what will use it (“Backup script”), choose when it expires, and select its Permissions. A token can never do more than you can.
  4. Copy the token - it’s shown only once. Store it somewhere safe, like a password manager.

Use it

Send it with every request, in the Authorization header:

Authorization: Bearer sk_...

The API reference lists every endpoint - see the API docs link in this site’s footer.

Revoke a token

On Settings → API Tokens, click Revoke next to it. It stops working immediately. The list also shows when each token was last used, which helps find ones you no longer need.

Good to know

  • A token works in the organization it was created in.
  • Treat a token like a password. If one leaks, revoke it and create a new one.
  • Tokens stop working when you leave the organization or delete your account.
