# Write a note

> Type a note instead of recording one - with Markdown, tags and every AI feature.

Not everything is said out loud. You can write a note too:

1. Click **Write** on the Notes page, or **Write a note** on the Record page.
2. Give it a **Title**, write the **Text**, or both, and add tags if you like.
3. Click **Create note**, or press <kbd>Ctrl</kbd>+<kbd>S</kbd> (<kbd>⌘</kbd>+<kbd>S</kbd> on a Mac).

A written note costs no transcription minutes, and you can edit it right away.

## Formatting

The editor formats as you type: type <kbd>/</kbd> for headings, lists, task lists, quotes, tables and code. Underneath, the note is Markdown - you can switch to the **Markdown** tab to write it directly:

If you've turned on automatic titles and tags, a written note gets them too. Polishing happens only when you ask for it.
