# Upload an audio file

> Turn a voice memo, meeting recording or any other audio file into a note.

1. Open **Record** in the sidebar.
2. Click **Upload audio file** and pick the file - or drop it onto the recording card.
3. A progress bar shows the upload. Once it's done, the file is transcribed like a recording.

The tags, language and polish options you set on the page apply to the upload too.

## Which files work

MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG, WebM and FLAC. Voice memos from iPhone (M4A) and Android work as they are.

## Size and length

The file can be as long as your plan's longest recording - see [Recording length and monthly minutes](https://noteclearly.com/en/help/recording-length-and-minutes/). Its size limit follows from that length, so ordinary compressed audio always fits. WAV and FLAC files are uncompressed and much bigger: if one is "too large", convert it to MP3 or M4A first.

## Which plans include it

Uploading audio files is included in the paid plans. On Free, the button links to the plans; recording in the app works on every plan. See [Pricing](https://noteclearly.com/en/pricing/) for what each plan includes.

## If the upload fails

If the upload breaks off - say, your connection drops - the file stays on the page with **Upload again**. If it keeps failing, try a smaller file (MP3 instead of WAV) or a steadier connection.
